Former Department of Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Jeffrey Dy says there is nothing wrong with one person maintaining multiple social media accounts, as long as they do not assume different identities.
He adds social media platforms already prohibit the operation of multiple accounts under different identities in their terms and conditions of use. However, Dy notes enforcement remains weak, allowing the persistence of fake accounts online.
On Monday, Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III proposed a 'one person, one account' policy to curb the spread of false information online.
