ERICE HIGHLIGHTS 2015 MILESTONE IN ANTI-POLITICAL DYNASTY BILL
Representative Edgar Erice told Nani Braganza and Ben Evardone that the most significant progress made by an anti-political dynasty measure in Congress occurred in 2015, when his proposed bill advanced at the committee level.
Erice said the measure underwent extensive study and consultations with constitutionalists and legal experts before gaining approval, with provisions barring relatives within the second degree of consanguinity from running for office in any position.
He added that the bill aligned with the framers’ intent of the Constitution by promoting equal access to public service, preventing the perpetuation of power, and avoiding arbitrary restrictions.
